Public universities in Germany typically do not charge tuition fees for international students, including those from India. However, students must be aware of the following:

  1. Semester Contribution: While there are no tuition fees, students are required to pay a semester contribution, which covers administrative costs, student services, and public transportation. Some public universities in certain states charge non-EU students tuition fees of €1,500 per semester. This includes universities such as Heidelberg University, University of Stuttgart, and University of Freiburg, among others in Baden-Württemberg
  2. Living Costs: Although tuition fees are waived, students need to cover living expenses, including accommodation, food, health insurance, study materials, and personal expenses. These costs can amount to approximately €800 to €1,200 per month.
